Work, overtime, money, work, overtime, money, insanity?

With all this talk about a struggling economy I am confused - maybe that is because I do not personally know anyone who has had the misfortune to have lost their job and well I have a husband that has more work than he has time to do.

I long for the days that he left at 4pm. It's rather sad when he leaves in the morning and states
"I am going to have a lot more work today because I got off early yesterday."
Hello!!! You worked until 5 - that's an hour late!
I'm afraid to know what is going to happen Tuesday - since he has to get off at 4!
So tonight will be a really late night. most likely leaving work between 730 and 8. As will tomorrow. The poor guy has to get off at 6 on Friday - we are celebrating our 6 year anniversary - another blog though. I am such a horrid wife to request it!

So am I complaining? Kind of. But not enough to want it to change. As difficult as this is with him working so much - the money is really good and has allowed us to become almost completely debt free, to actually have money sitting in savings, to have money going to our Disney trip and to allow him to buy stocks. The hardest part of it all really is the boys and their confusion as to who this man is that walks in the door after dinner and kisses them goodnight. "Mommy who is that strange man?" LOL. I know that they are not getting their daily dose of rough housing with a daddy. So I have been really grateful that I have such a wonderful family! SIL has been coming over regularly and well for a girl - she knows how to play! The boys have so much fun when she is here. Lately on the weekends Brother is in town - and this week he is on spring break - so he has been coming over too - which has been a blast for the boys as well. They don't get to see him as often as they would like when he is in Mankato. So at least they are getting more of that wrestling that they need. Because I certainly am not going to do it - just not part something I can do.

So again all I can do is grin and bare it. Being grateful he has a job, one that pays overtime, one he does well, that he likes (minus his manager) and a family that keeps me occupied. So if anyone wants dinner - COME ON OVER! We love having dinner guests to break up out nights.

So now that I am done ranting about that - I begin my day. A day when I question if our boys will see Husband or not. Probably not. Poor kids. Poor Husband. Poor me. Pity party anyone?

I'm sorry, Honey! It does suck for you guys. Keep on staying positive and counting your blessings. God will get us all through everything.

If it makse you feel better, I know several people who have lost jobs: my step-dad, my step-brother, my brother-in-law, a couple friends. My company announced a hiring freeze and salary cuts last week. It's rough out there.

I just don't understand why your hubby's company doesn't hire some of these out of work people and let everyone work regular hours!
